Taskforce seizes 410 motorcycles
By Precious Igbonwelundu
The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) has impounded 410 motorcycles for alleged breach of the state’s traffic laws.
The seizures, according to the agency, were carried out between last week and Wednesday at Isolo, Ojodu-Berger, Ojota, Lagos Island, Surulere and Second Rainbow areas of the State.
A statement by Taskforce’s Public Affairs Officer (PAO), Femi Moliki, said 300 motorcycles were impounded last week during enforcement raids at Isolo, Ojodu-Berger, Ojota, Lagos Island and Surulere, while 110 were seized on Wednesday at Second Rainbow in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area (LGA).

Quoting Taskforce chairman, CSP Shola Jejeloye, Moliki said the agency would sustain its drive until the penchant for disregard of traffic rules especially by commercial motorcyclists was drastically reduced.
He said the chairman appealed to residents to stop patronising motorcyclists plying highways and bridges, adding that the agency would use the power available to it to ensure compliance.
Emphasising that the law was made for public good, Jejeloye, Moliki said, insisted that enforcing the law was like stopping recalcitrant motorcyclists from killing themselves and endangering the lives of other road users.
